Tiger visiting Mesker Park Zoo

A 15-year-old Amur tiger arrived at Mesker Park Zoo Monday, on loan from the zoo in Cleveland.

The 236-pound female tiger named Gala was transported by truck with a USDA-licensed animal transport specialist in a trip that took about eight hours, according to Cleveland radio station WTAM.

The transfer to Mesker Park was recommended by the Amur tiger Species Survival Plan of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
