Mater Dei ranked #1 in new high school football poll | Sports & Recreation
The Mater Dei Wildcats now have a big target on their backs. The 'Cats, coming off a win over Heritage Hills on Friday night, moved up to the #1 ranking in this week's Associated Press high school football poll.
Ft. Wayne Luers, the pre-season #1, lost 10-7 to Snider in a crosstown rivalry game, dropping them to #2.
Luers beat Mater Dei in the 2011 state 2A championship game.
Mater Dei plays at Central Friday night. The Bears are ranked 8th in Class 4A, just ahead of Reitz.
