St. Wendel's hopes for big turnout at first rummage sale starting tonight

St. Wendel’s Parish is gearing up for their first ever rummage sale and they say it'll be a big one.

Clothes from baby to adult, mens and womens, toys of all sizes, bikes, household furniture, curio cabinets, household appliances, many household items including anitques and tools will be for sale.  They even have air conditioners, a tanning bed and a 17' carpet remnant.

Trinity Lutheran hosting rummage sale

Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Darmstadt will be hosting its annual rummage sale on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to noon in the school gym.

Items available include:  books of all kinds, jewelry, clothing, home furnishings, arts and crafts, tools and outdoor equipment and toys.

Trinity is located at 1401 W. Boonville-New Harmony Road.

Maternity, kids consignment event this weekend at 4-H Center

 

The Go Bananas Spring/Summer Consignment Event is April 12 – 14 at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center.  New and gently-used children’s and maternity items are offered at a fraction of retail cost by many participating families.The event features popular brands such as Gymboree, Baby Gap, Janie and Jack, Graco, Fisher Price, Pottery Barn Kids and many more. Shoppers can expect to find upscale spring and summer clothing (sizes newborn to 16), toys, baby gear, furniture, bedding, accessories, maternity items, and a variety of vendors from the Evansville area.

Admission is free. Sale hours are Saturday, April 13 from 10am – 6pm and Sunday, April 14 from 10am – 2pm.  Many items are half price on Sunday. Demand to shop early has led to the a Pre-Sale Event on Friday, April 12.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at (www.gobananasconsignment.com) for customers wanting to shop before the general public.

How to receive Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army

Families and residents from Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties who will be unable to provide their immediate family a Christmas dinner and toys for their children may sign up for The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance in person.

Applications Will Be Taken At The Salvation Army, 1040 North Fulton Avenue from October 22, 2012—November 2 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Evening applications will be taken only on October 25 and November 1 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

CVB promotes the Fall Festival in other cities

CVB promotes the Fall Festival in other cities

The Evansville Convention and Visitors Bureau has billboards up in cities like Terre Haute, Jasper and Madisonville, to try and lure more people from outlying communities to come to the Fall Festival, spend the night and hopefully put a few more bucks in the pockets of local business owners.

The CVB says it spent about $10,000 promoting the festival this year and will do the same in 2013. However, they’re also considering an even bigger promotional push through TV or radio advertising.

The former Integra Bank branch on St. Joseph Avenue is about to become a new sandwich shop.  A jackhammer was blasting concrete out of the old drive thru/ATM lanes Friday morning as crews continued the process of repurposing the facility. 

Old National Bank, which purchased Integra last year, sold the property and it is now owned by Ken Butler, who told 14 News he will turn part of the building into a Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich shop.  The other portion will be rented out.

St. James' annual Fall Rummage, Bake Sale set for September

St. James West United Methodist Church, located at 3111 Hillcrest Terrace, will have its annual Fall Rummage and Bake Sale on Friday, September 14 and Saturday,  September 15.   Organizers say this is a giant indoor, very organized rummage sale with a lot of great items available. 

Doors open at 7:00 a.m.  and  you can shop until 2:00 p.m. each day.  On Saturday from 12-2 p.m., there will be a $5 fill-a-large paper grocery bag with clothing sale.  All other items will be half price at that time.
