Perry Heights student praised for good deed

Here's a good news story to pass along.  Recently Perry Heights student Noah Hibbs found a wallet with a lot of money in it at a Reitz football game.  He did the right thing and turned the wallet in to school officials.  As a reward, the owner of the wallet gave Noah $20.  A post about Noah's good deed on Perry Heights' facebook page now has more than 250 comments and more than 6,000 "likes".  You can add to those numbers and give Noah a virtual pat on the back by clicking here!  (You may need

USI offering social media courses

A series of eight social media courses will be offered this semester through USI’s Department of Continuing Education.

The noncredit courses will cover Wordpress, Prezi, HootSuite, iPhones and iPads, LinkedIn, Pinterest, production tools, and Tumblr. Two workshops, “Build and Brand your Business Using Social Media” and “Social Media Business Policies and Implementation,” will also be offered.

The St. Joe 8th grade Tug of War team was crowned the champions at the Westside Nut Club Fall Festival Tuesday night and that means one teacher is getting a serious buzz cut.

First, St. Philip upset the long standing champions Helfrich Park.  Then came the championship round where St. Joe and St. Philip had a tug off and St. Joe came out victorious.  Now it is time for all bets to be called in.

Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center, 3400 Stocker Drive in Evansville, is having their annual Scholarship Golf Scramble on October 18 at Helfrich Hills Golf Course starting at 8am.

The scholarship benefits Mater Dei and Reitz students majoring in healthcare. There will be team prizes, and lunch will be provided.

1957 Reitz band members will finally get their letters

Better late than never.  Some 55 years after their letters arrived in damaged condition, members of the 1957 Reitz High School band will get replacements.

The Reitz High School Class of 1957 will be holding their 55th class reunion on Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29. Several members will be attending the Reitz/North football game on Friday.  Nine of those members were in the band at Reitz.

This semester, the University of Southern Indiana, through the Office of International Programs and Studies, is providing a temporary home for exchange students from all three of Evansville’s sister cities,  Tizimín, Mexico; Osnabrück, Germany; and Tochigi, Japan.
