Perry Heights students test concrete strength at USI

Eighth grade students at Perry Heights enrolled in Gateway to Project Lead the Way traveled to USI last week to test the strength of concrete cylinders they created in class.  For the project, students learned how concrete was made and were allowed to use water and Portland cement to create concrete that they poured into a mold. In addition, students were allowed to use a strengthener in their mix.

Mater Dei High School is hosting an Open House for prospective students and parents on November 15 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. 

There will be tours and an opportunity to visit each academic department and meet with faculty.  Information regarding financial aid, payment plans, and the Indiana School Choice (voucher) program will be available.  There will be displays for student activities in the cafeteria and  a drawing for an iPad.

Marching bands all over Indiana competed in the Semi-State competition on Saturday at four different Indianapolis high schools.

The Mater Dei Marching Wildcats were among the bands earning a trip to the finals next week.  Here's the complete list:

Perry Heights students travel to USI to test concrete creations

Perry Heights eighth grade students enrolled in the Project Lead the Way Gateway course traveled to USI Friday, Oct. 26, to test the strength of concrete cylinders they created.

As part of the project, students learned how concrete was made and were allowed to use water and Portland cement to create concrete that they poured into a mold.

Trunk or treat at Resurrection School

Trunk or treat at Resurrection School

Resurrection School’s TeenPower Committee has organized a trunk or treat in conjunction with Red Ribbon Week.  This Saturday evening, they have organized the 3rd annual trunk or treat at Resurrection School.  

Beyond the traditional treats for Halloween, there will be trunks decorated to promote the anti-drug awareness with special treats/prizes to go with these themes.

New EVSC figures show Reitz enrollment

Reitz High School has a current enrollment of 1,355 students according to new enrollment figures released by the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.

7 local seniors honored for academic promise

Seven EVSC seniors have been named a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Program due to their exceptional academic promise. The following students in the EVSC have received the honor and were recognized as being among the top five percent of students in the nation:
