St. Wendel's hopes for big turnout at first rummage sale starting tonight

St. Wendel’s Parish is gearing up for their first ever rummage sale and they say it'll be a big one.

Clothes from baby to adult, mens and womens, toys of all sizes, bikes, household furniture, curio cabinets, household appliances, many household items including anitques and tools will be for sale.  They even have air conditioners, a tanning bed and a 17' carpet remnant.

Newly restored model of Centennial School to be dedicated Thursday

The University of Southern Indiana will dedicate a renovated 1876 wooden model of Centennial Elementary School, the University’s founding location (1965-1969), at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16.

The dedication ceremony will be held in the Ruth M. Kleymeyer Hall of Presidents, located on the fourth floor of the David L. Rice Library, where the model will be on permanent display.

A gift to USI from the Evansville Museum of Arts, History, and Science, the model was built in 1876, the year Centennial Elementary School opened. That same year, the model was exhibited in Philadelphia at the first World’s Fair held in the United States. The model was donated to the museum by Centennial School Principal Guy Nicholson in 1947.

Catalyst Church on the Westside of Evansville will have a free event June 15  from 3-6pm called Rock the Block.

It’s the church’s  3rd annual "block party” featuring food, snacks, games, inflatables, games, clowns, live music, etc.

You don’t have to be a church member to attend.

The church is at 3232 Claremont Ave.

Raise your mug to an evening of fun at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden’s fourth annual Zoo Brew Presented by Toyota on Saturday, June 8 from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Stroll on a path around the Zoo while enjoying up to 25 beer and wine samples as well as food samples from local restaurants.  A souvenir sampling mug will be provided to every participant upon arrival, along with a Zoo Brew Guide. Live entertainment will be provided throughout the evening.

Whether your art choice is sketching, watercolors, or photography, you’re invited to an inaugural series of art, architecture, and history celebrating the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library’s Centennial and Historic Preservation Month.

On three Saturdays in May, join the EVPL and Evansville’s Historic Preservation Services Office for A Brush with History Art Strolls through three of the city’s historic areas.

Dr. John Steinmetz, state geologist and director of the Indiana Geological Survey, will present “Even After 175 Years, the Indiana Geological Survey Always has Something New” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in room 1101 of the Education Center at the University of Southern Indiana.

Trinity Lutheran hosting rummage sale

Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Darmstadt will be hosting its annual rummage sale on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 7 a.m. to noon in the school gym.

Items available include:  books of all kinds, jewelry, clothing, home furnishings, arts and crafts, tools and outdoor equipment and toys.

Trinity is located at 1401 W. Boonville-New Harmony Road.
