Indiana Conservation Officers arrest fugitive from Missouri at Dogtown

Indiana Conservation Officers have arrested Chase L. Norman, 26, from Bonne Terre, Missouri, lately from Evansville, for a drug related warrant that was issued in mid 2011, out of St. Francois County, Missouri.

According to the investigation, ICO John Pace was on fish and wildlife patrol Tuesday afternoon along Old Henderson Road in southwest Vanderburgh County when he stopped at the Dogtown Boat Ramp as part of his patrol to check for boating and fishing activity.

A clerk at Wesselman's on Fulton Avenue had an encounter with a shoplifter who had a taste for suds and cough syrup Wednesday night.

She called police a little after 9 p.m. when a man wearing a striped shirt, shorts and a baseball cap walked into the store and began removing items from the shelves.  The clerk said the man grabbed two bottles of beer and stuffed them in his pants, then made his way to the medicine aisle where he picked up a bottle of Robitussin and put it down his trousers as well.

Some commotion at the west side McDonalds on Monday turned out to be a false alarm according to Evansville Police and now a woman may be in trouble for false reporting.

Officers say they were called to the restaurant on South Rosenberger for a hit and run involving a pedestrian.  Both an EPD officer and a sheriff's deputy responded.

The woman who claimed to have been hit and knocked down by a car backing up out of a parking space requested an ambulance due to the fact that she felt nauseous from possibly being pregnant.

An Evansville man is in jail following a police chase over the weekend.

It began just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1300 block of West Maryland.

According to a police report, officers were responding to a domestic dispute at Apollo Liquors and when they arrived, the suspect, 30-year-old Richard Anthony Petrig took off.

Indiana State Police Superintendent Paul Whitesell has promoted Sergeant Brian Bailey to the rank of First Sergeant to serve as the Assistant District Commander at the Evansville District. Bailey is a native of Evansville and a 1990 graduate of Reitz High School.  He later attended Vincennes University and received an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement.

Jr. Football League building broken into again

A building at the Evansville Junior Football League grounds on Barker Ave. was broken into sometime between the middle of last week and Monday afternoon.  It's the third time the property has been the victim of a break-in.

Police were called after someone arrived Monday afternoon to mow the grass and noticed the storage building made of concrete blocks on the southwest corner of the property had been broken into.

EPD;  Man runs from wreck, assaults officer

A 20-year-old man from the northwest side is in the Vanderburgh County Jail after police say drove his vehicle into a concrete barrier, left the scene and then attacked police officers when they found him.

Evansville Police say Kevin Noble Eastwood was travelilng east on Franklin Street through the intersection with Kentucky Ave. around 10 p.m. Thursday, when he skidded 160 feet and rammed into a concrete barrier.  When officers arrived, Eastwood was nowhere to be found.  He was spotted a short time later near the intersection of St. Joe and Asbury.  When an officer tried to handcuff him, they say Eastwood took off runninig. 

Several other officers and sheriff's deputies joined in the search and they eventually learned he was inside his mobile home on Rockford Drive.  When he wife called for him to come out and speak with officers, he ran out the side door.
