Fender bender causes semi to jackknife, shuts down Lloyd for an hour

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- A fender bender causes a semi to jackknife across all four lanes of the Lloyd on Evansville's west side.

A blue car rear ended a white pickup truck between Rosenberger and Barker Avenue, causing the pickup to ricochet and hit the semi in the lane next to it. As a result, the semi ended up across all four lanes.

Luckily no injuries were sustained from the accident and the Lloyd has been reopened.

EPD officer accused of battery in incident with student

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- An EPD officer has been accused of battery.

Mater Dei students give the gift of song to former teacher in hospital

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- Mater Dei student give the gift of song to former teacher in the hospital at Deaconess.

Pat Welsh spent 22 years as a teacher at Mater Dei. Although she has since retired from teaching, she hasn't retired from supporting the wildcats.

Mrs. Welsh can be found at sporting events and concerts cheering on the students.

Most recently, she had plans to go see the Mater Dei spring musical, The Music Man, but a health condition prevented her from attending.

Streets will "come alive" this weekend in Evansville

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE)- If you're looking for something fun to do that will get you outside this weekend, you might want to go to the second annual "Streets Alive" Festival in Evansville. 

Fulton will be shut down from Maryland to Diamond for the event.

Just like last year, people will literally be dancing in the streets as well as biking, walking, skating, doing Zumba and more.

Food vendors will have healthy food options like fruit smoothies.

St. Wendel's hopes for big turnout at first rummage sale starting tonight

St. Wendel’s Parish is gearing up for their first ever rummage sale and they say it'll be a big one.

Clothes from baby to adult, mens and womens, toys of all sizes, bikes, household furniture, curio cabinets, household appliances, many household items including anitques and tools will be for sale.  They even have air conditioners, a tanning bed and a 17' carpet remnant.

Mater Dei earns '4 Star School' award

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz has announced Indiana's 4 Star schools for 2013. In order to achieve this designation, a school must be in the top 25th percentile of schools in ISTEP+ testing results. A total of 313 schools received the award throughout the state.
